Head to the woods and learn how to camp! Equipped with everything we need, we’ll become Leave No Trace forest stewards. Learn about basic safety kits to have on hand, emergency shelters, fire safety, and staying prepared for the weather.

PREDATORS & PREY

Mountain Lions and deer, owls and rodents, bears and grubs…discover the many local predator prey relationships in the woods. Learn how these relationships support the forest food chain through games and activities. What role do YOU play in the Web of Life?

MOUNTAIN ROCKS & GOLD

Join us on a Rocky Mountain rock hunt. Pan for gold and other valuable minerals! Learn some ghostly mining tales and go diggin’ for crystals and other special stones.

Crustaceans, Arachnids, Insects, Millipedes, and Centipedes…Discover the magnificent world of Arthropods and deepen your understanding of what they do for our earth. Catch and release!

Capture the enchantment of the natural world through the camera lens. Practice photography skills in the field and build your own frames to highlight your best work!

Beat the heat of the summer and get wet in the mountain water! Explore the creeks, streams, ponds, lakes, reservoirs and puddles! Bring your water shoes (and extra change of clothes) and discover the properties of this valuable resource in our mountains.

Learn about the local healing plants within our community. Enjoy special expert guests to discover the amazing qualities of the plants you encounter hiking in the mountains. Create field guides, herbal crafts and learn the history of many healing plants used for generations.

ANIMAL TRACKERS

Follow the tracks of the wild animals that traveled before you on land and in the air. Identify scat and other animal signs. Create a field guide to take home!

Our ancestors did not live in brick houses! They often created shelters with Earth’s available resources. Create your own primitive shelter and make it your home.

GHOSTS OF CARIBOU

Venture out and hike the trails of Caribou Ranch. Meet the ghosts of miners and prospectors, meet a geologist, and visit a mine! Become a rock hound and see what rocks and minerals are hiding in the woods waiting to be discovered.
